Henniker Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Henniker Chamber was held on Friday, June 20th 2014 hosted by Michie Corporation. This event concluded the fourth year of the Henniker Chamber of Commerce incorporation. Thank you to all members for their participation. Four Board of Director positions were up for a 2 year term position and were voted on during the meeting with a secret ballot for all of those nominated. The results will be posted soon.

Michie Corporation commemorated their 40 years in business with a grand community oriented celebration.  Many of the Chamber members worked with Michie Corporation to ensure a fun filled afternoon.  Rick Hall and staff from the Country Spirit Restaurant did an amazing job with food and drink for the crowd, which included beer from Dave Currier's Henniker Brewery.  Shelbie Connor of Intervale Farm tempted all with her soft serve ice cream.  Dennis Lamphear of Stonefalls Gardens provided many beautiful potted plants and garden sculptures, adding texture to the sea of concrete forms: who knew how many ways concrete could be formed?  Jess Chauca of Face Painting by Jess in Henniker, was a huge hit not only with kids but adults as well.  Many Chamber and community members as well as customers were given tours of the plant by the Michie family bringing their understanding of the entire process to a new level.  Again, all ages were in awe of magician, Andrew Pinard of Absolutely Magic from Bradford.  He had the crowd dropping their jaws, with his many elastic tricks.  Lastly, but certainly not least, the band "Annie and the Orphans" from Meredith NH, a long time favorite of the Michie clan, did not disappoint in their performance.   Many guests enjoyed the music hitting the dance floor to let loose a bit on that beautiful Friday afternoon.

A big Thank you to Michie Corporation and their employees for a great time and may we take this time to wish them many more years of success! Check out some photos.

Steps to Retirement with Deborah Anne Nitzschke from Ameriprise Financial

On May 29th Deborah Anne Nitzschke from Ameriprise Financial in Henniker opened her business to help us plan for the future. Some of the topics included learning the biggest mistakes people make with credit card debt, learning to live within your means and planning for your retirement.

Deb says that she can steer us in the right direction on how we can “save 20-30% of our pay checks”. She provided a quick 3 minute test to see who was ready for their future financially. If you would like to take the test, please contact Deb and she would be happy to help you.

All attendees left with some “goodies” to help them plan for their future. Thank you to Deb for hosting this educational event for our members. Check out some photos from this event.

Henniker Community Spring Clean Up Day Sponsored by Henniker Chamber of Commerce A Huge Success

The Henniker Chamber of Commerce’s annual Henniker Community Spring Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 3, 2014 was a huge success with over 80 volunteers from local businesses and organizations. Check out our Press Release for a listing of participants.

Jim Morse of Morse Sporting Goods received a
donation from the Henniker Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of the Contoocook Valley ATV Riders Club, for $100 for having the largest number of people to check-in and check-out as a team/group with 22 people. Using their ATVs, their group picked up trash on over 2 and half miles of roads.

Henniker Boy Scout Troop #76 was stationed at the Henniker Transfer Station to encourage residents to take a blue trash bag to pick up trash in their own neighborhood. This was a significant factor in the resident participation. Over 200 bags of trash were collected along the roads in the downtown area, parking areas, parks, school grounds and many of the roads on the outside of the downtown. A special thank you is extended to Bill McGirr for coordinating with the Henniker Chamber of Commerce in collecting trash and picking up the filled bags of trash.

A barbeque at the Henniker Community Center followed the clean up efforts with food donated by the Henniker Chamber of Commerce. The Country Spirit Restaurant supplied all the food at cost along with their grill. Rick Hall, owner of the Country Spirit Restaurant, and some of his employees were instrumental in preparing for the barbeque. A thank you from everyone to Rick for doing the cooking along with Paul Sheppard of Davis & Towle Insurance Group.

The Henniker Chamber of Commerce thanks all participants for their hard work in helping clean up the town of Henniker.
